Artist's Comments

i was asked by the desk to take photos that could go with an article about poverty so i went to a squatters settlement near the manila times office. i actually had finished shooting when i saw these three kids on my way back to the office... they just finished sharing a small serving of rice with bits of corn... they lived in a tattered and cramped house... wall to wall it was no bigger than my outstretched arms...

I love the variety of emotions you captured here. I could see this being a daily deviation with some post work. Try photoshoping out some of the shadow around the kids. Great capture.

Its a truely moving piece. You did a wonderful job. I feel bad for the children though. Kinda rips at your heart strings quiet a bit.

A beautiful picture. Their eyes pulled me in so much I didn't even notice the floor or the background. Heartbreaking.

One of the strongest motives that lead men to art and science is escape from everyday life with its painful crudity and hopeless dreariness, from the fetters of one's own ever-shifting desires.

Wow, this is an incredible picture. The expression on the faces of all the three kids is extremly strong. I also like the lightning. Very well done!
